Homework Policy
Homework policy for fourth-grade:
- There may be 20-60 minutes of homework each evening;
- A homework reading log will be sent home each Monday, to be returned on Friday; Students should read a minimum of 20 minutes each day at home;
- The reading log should be completed by the student and initialed by the parent;
- There may be 2 or 3 math assignments each week that should be completed and returned the following day. Math textbooks can be carried home in student backpacks.
- Work that is not completed in class may be assigned as homework.
- Starting the third week of school, there will be a weekly spelling list to study at home for a quiz on Friday;
- Homework will be graded; Late homework will be receive a 10% penalty. Homework more than 2 days late will receive a grade of zero unless due to absence;
- Students who do not return homework will complete a Homework Deficiency Notice during their recess, and work to correct the deficiency. Deficiency notices must be signed by a parent or responsible adult.
- Students will miss recess until signed notices are returned to school.
